Kalliope - Octopus under sea coloring box

Many species of octopus are eaten as food by human cultures around the world. The arms and sometimes other parts of the body are prepared in various ways, often depending on the species being eaten.

Care must be taken to boil the octopus properly, to rid it of slime and the smell, as well as any residual ink.

Octopus is a common ingredient in Japanese cuisine, including sushi, takoyaki, and Akashiyaki. Some small species are sometimes eaten alive as a novelty and health food (mostly in South Korea). Similarly, a live octopus may be sliced up and the legs eaten while still squirming, which they continue to do for some minutes.

Cooked octopus contains approximately 139 calories per three ounce portion, and is a source of vitamin B3, B12, potassium, phosphorus, and selenium.

Lazy Town illustration - children's book illustrator

Lazy Town - That’s the name of  the world famous  TV serial. When Stephanie arrived to Lazy Town, the rules of Sportacus about a healthier life came true. Like children shouldn’t sit in room and play with PC games, but should go out to the playground, or play baseball, basketball or just dance!

They have to go to bed at 8:08 pm, and better to eat a lot of sport candies instead sweets, cakes and chocolates, as Sportacus does, because they can be slower or even their body just can stop to work. Also all the kids could wash teeth with motion like 20 times left, twenty times right!

Finally we should sing: Bing bang diggiriggidong!!!
We love Lazy Town, go on…

Alex Alexeev is my son, he created this fantastic illustration about an awesome tale, what he learned in the school. I just made mine just because actually it is my site, even if he is more talented… Also you can read the tale in my translation:

Once a Turkish, Mehemed
No cow whom ever met
He just even didn’t know
How cows should be called

It’s a wonder!-said Mehemed
Do they really look like that?

Hi, my name is Mehemed
I’m very glad that we’ve met
Start to count all the moos
They just have a lot of hues

Suddenly he understood
There are only 3 type of moos
Black, white and brindled are main
Just never pull their tiny tail!

But Mehemed was not as clever
And those cows just kicked him over!

The pig and the wolves folk-tale

- My best friend piggy, please let both of my front feet also.
The little pig let his front feet, but even this was not enough for the wolf, then started again:
-My sweety-kindy piggy- wiggy, let my body in completely, believe me you’ll see I do not touch you even with a finger!
Then the little pig put a bag watchfully next to the door, if this draggled wolf comes from the back directly to the bag. So the little pig could let him in!
The wolf went straight to the bag, the piggy suddenly closed the mouth of the bag, picked the pot full of hot water and scalded the rude wolf with it and fastly climbed the nearest tree next to his house. The wolf was shouting and crying, that the boiled water took all hair away from his body like no one remained on. After all was rolling around madly, then could open the bag. He slipped out from it, and started to run immediately to bring some help. Soon came with several of his wolves, they all were searching for the little pig . Till then when one of them could watch him on the top of the tree, hanging on it. The cruel wolves were standing below , and thinking what can they do ? ‘Cause none of them could climb even a bush, not even a tall tree.

So later on had a desicion, that they will climb on each other, to be as high then the upper wolf can reach this tricky piggy.
Then the wolves started to climb on each others back, but the bold, the wretched one stayed under all, because he was such as scared, like this everybody was standing on him.
They were standing so high, only one made a mistake, so this one could climb too, but then the little pig was shouting on them: Stream the boiled water on bold!
The bold wolf got frightened, jumped out from under all the wolves were flying down one by one, who had broken legs and necks, and this luckness bold was running as fastly as never could see him anymore, anywhere.

The little pig scrambled down from the tree, no one wolf was enough brave to disturb him in his house anymore.

The little bear who wanted to be a bird english-fable

Do you remember the fable when a little bear wants to be a bird? He wants┬á it so much that doesn’t stop to create a beak for his face, then all the birds are laughing on him. ..and so on…

At the end of the story he decides to eat all the raspberry from the bush, then he meets another bear, his color is black and eats a jug of honey that he found in a log. The little bear didn’t want to be a bird anymore…

I used to read this fable for my kids in the age of Kindergarden, it is a light, funny and illuminative.:) Just for the kids under 6.

The Turkish and the Cock illustration

The Little Cock’s diamond half-scrimp - originally “A kiskakas gyémát félkrajcárja” - is a hungarian folk-tale. Cause this is a real unwritten tradition story, there are many variants of the lyrics, but unfortunetely I could not find an english tramslation for them.

Next time I’ll search for something international to illustrate, but until then I need to work hard - for about 2-3 weeks - in a nice, and original children’s book illustration.

The Raven And The Fox illustration

Nyunya and the Sea Monster illustration

I would like to share my drawing-technics with You, who is visiting my new site. Maybe it can bring some new experiences..:)

So, the first what I do is to DRAW! It sounds very simple , isn’t it!? But seriously, first I imagine the picture in my head, and then create a rough with HB or 2B pencil ( it depends what I have at home :))┬á on paper A4. When I feel ok, or sometimes fabulous (rearly) it is ready to clean-up, I use a non-permanent black pen, the exact name of it is Stabilo OHPen Universal. I tell because this is a wonderful pen, helped me a lot during work. After all these I scan the picture on 300 dpi in Photoshop as PSD format. In Photoshop the first thing what I do is to choose the right colors for the background, because later they can’t be changed so much, for example: the sky is blue, the tree and grass are green, the water can be dark blue, etc..

Later it will be easier to compare the colors with the smaller details. Normally I use the paint bucket to fill the big areas, after with Tablet I can paint with the brush tool, to make some shadows I use in multiply mode. But the most important in coloring is the bright-feeling when I am watching the picture, it shouldn’t upset me.
Sometimes happens to me that I am not satisfied with my result, then I have to import some different layers with other characters or new details.

Russia Ukraine gas pipe conflightcomics illustration

That is, our new situation where we are living in..

We have to survive, try to in coldness, in freezing weather without gas-heating what was not expected. Therefore Europe is in panic, can hear in the news hopeless informations about russian-ukranien incident, can believe in God, and also can believe in Nostradamus and his forecasts..

This drawing was made for the irony, what people feel about the national war of Russia and Ukraine .

Since a long time I have a big desire, to create an unique story for my characters, what would be simpler and diffferent than other children books on the market, because of the minimal style and a funny story, what needed for…

Therefore I am looking for a writer, who has a special humour, senses and feelings for the children who would see and feel the story( they can’t read yet:) with a lot of animals and absurd situations.
